Ms. Laassel was born and raised in Marrakesh, Morocco, and moved to Texas in 1997, as a foreign exchange student.
Ms. Laassel obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, with honors, from the University of Central Florida in May of 2004. While attending UCF, Ms. Laassel was a member of the Mock Trial Team, and served as Chair of the Academic and Morals & Ethics committees of the Diversified Greek Council. Ms. Laassel was also a member of the Golden Key and Order of Omega honoraries.
Ms. Laassel obtained her Juris Doctor from the University of Florida, Fredric G. Levin College of Law in May of 2007, and was admitted to the Florida Bar in April of 2008. While attending law school, Ms. Laassel was a member of the Jessup Moot Court team, and served as Executive Research Editor for the University of Florida Journal of International Law.
Ms. Laassel concentrates her practice in commercial litigation, general civil litigation, and immigration law. Ms. Laassel represents both employers and individuals in a wide spectrum of immigration matters, including the processing of I-485 petitions, and H1-B and EB visas. She is admitted to practice in the State of Florida, as well as the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida.
Ms. Laassel is an active member of the Marion County Bar Association’s Young Lawyer Section, D.R. Smith Inn of Court, and Emerging Young Leaders of Ocala- a section of the Marion County Chamber of Commerce. Ms. Laassel is also involved with several local non-profit organizations, including Ocala Royal Dames for Cancer Research, and United Way.
In addition to English, Ms. Laassel is fluent in Arabic, French, and Spanish.
